The knife is one of the oldest objects created by humans. During prehistoric times, Neanderthals crafted cutting tools, while Homo sapiens made the first knives from bone or obsidian, initially simple and then evolving into more complex designs. Serving as a cutting instrument, a weapon for defense and hunting, the knife has been crucial for human survival. Through the Stone Age, the Age of Metals, Antiquity, and the Middle Ages, techniques continuously evolved, especially with the art of forging blades. Handles, too, were adorned according to the fashion and wealth of their owners. It was the Industrial Revolution, with the advent of machine tools and electricity, that transformed and mechanized the world of cutlery. It wasn’t until the 21st century that consumers began to seek out knives that reflected the heritage values and centuries-old craftsmanship of the cutler.

Knife making has always been my passion. As a lifelong outdoorsman, I have personally used and tried every design that I produce. The creation of each knife is a journey, starting with a shapeless piece of high quality steel. My choice of stainless steel is Böhler N690, tried, tested and proven for toughness, hard wearing and incredible edge retention. Each knife is individually  ground and finished by hand to a scratch-resistant satin which will provide you with a durable knife made for hard work. The process of transforming raw steel into a finished product takes between 20 to 30 hours of manual labour.

My other passion is leather work. I make each individual sheath,  wet formed, hand decorated and stitched from natural full-grain leather to fit the knife like a glove.

Even though my knives are based on designs, tried and tested by outdoorsmen, I do not mass produce duplicate knives, simply because I believe that each knife should be unique. Making knives is my passion and I make them in the hope that they will be trusted companions to those who use them. My mission is to make affordable, superior quality knives.

I am based in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Below are the categories of knives that I produce. Click on the images below to view details such as available styles, dimensions, steel type and special features of the products.
